In 2014, Matt Carpenter, Saint Louis Cardinals Third Baseman, was having a big year as he was selected to the MLB All-Star game. Nike was going to be offering Carpenter a set of custom player edition cleats to wear on the diamond. Matt reached out to the studio to design a wordmark/logo to be used a visual identity on his cleats.
Carpenter has been called "Carp" as a nickname since he was in high school in Texas. We designed the following solution which was a big hit with Matt as well as Nike's baseball product managers.
